I'm an 1/8th way done with med school. It feels nice to have one semester under my belt. Don't ask me any medical questions though because I still don't really know anything. The best part of the semester was doing the dissection on the cadavers. Picture below is when Rob and Lisa came to visit on their way to Sea World and I took Rob to the anatomy lab. I don't think he found it as interesting as I did. He wouldn't even touch the cadaver.

wow it's been a while... sorry.

Texas... I'm digging it! no snow in fact it's still pretty warm! sure I miss 'home' but I am liking it here more and more. I'll be just fine living here for four years.

Dave is doing great at med school! He is getting perfect grades, he is totally loving it, sure it's stressful but he is where he is supposed to be. I only see him barely a second a day but he is happy to be in med school! He has a great group of friends to study with. I have made a good friend to, makes the whole Texas experience easier.

We bought a condo, it's so nice. it's close to the school, close to the grocery stores, and pretty close to church. It's not too big but it's perfect for us. it has two goo size bedrooms, all wood floors, decent size bathroom and kitchen. It also has a pool for me during the summer, perfect! We are happy to not be renting anymore it was so expensive and it felt like we were just throwing away our money. We are so excited and happy about our new place. Pictures soon to come!!

we got a dog! I have been wanting a dog forever and now we have one! She is an American bulldog mixed with a boxer. she is 2 years old and already house trained. she is pretty funny and has a very good nature. We are pretty happy.

We are looking forward to the holidays. We are doing Thanksgiving in Houston with Roger and Marilyn.

We are doing Christmas in California with my Family. First year away from Mantua, so weird, but exciting! I'm into new experiences!

We are doing well, Happy and still in love! what more can we ask for!

One class down!

I just finished and passed (at least I think I did, grades still pending) my first class in med school. Instead of having 5 classes at once during an entire semester we have one class for 5 or 6 weeks. Our first class was cell science which was pretty much cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry all compacted into one class. The concepts weren’t too difficult but it was a lot of information in 5 short weeks. I don’t think I’ve ever studied so much for a test (picture below of notes for the last test). In addition to our cell science class we’ve had a clinical medicine class once a week (where we learn how to perform a physical exam), OMM once a week (Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine), a geriatrics lecture once a week (they’re really trying to educate us on how to take care of old people because of all the baby boomers, but really these lectures have turned into study time for other classes) then a patient interview class every other week. I interviewed my first patient on Thursday (actually just an actor) while being evaluated by 5 other students and a physician. Everyone that went before me got really interesting cases and the physician kept telling them to ask more questions to get to the root of the problem. Things like a lady who wasn’t sleeping at night because she was worried that she had HIV, or another lady who was having gastritis caused by being an alcoholic. When it was my turn I was ready to ask all sorts of questions, but the lady had just hurt her back lifting a box, so that was kinda lame. Next week we start our anatomy class and we’ll be disceting cadavers, which I’m really excited for.

Em has been awesome. She basically just follows me around the apartment and picks up after me (picture below of her when I made her get up at 6 and quiz me). Fort Worth has been great, but we really haven’t experienced much of it because everytime she has time off work I have to study and when I don’t she has to work. We have found an awesome BBQ place (picture below of when we went there with Mom and Dad). I’ve tried to go play rugby with the local mens team but have only made it to two practices. That’s all for now.

-it's been about a month now since we move to fort worth and dave started school. so far thing are going as i had expected. it really isn't that much different for me, than it was at BYU, with him workin and playing rugby that is. Dave get's up early between 6:00 and 7:00 i make him breakfast and lunch, help him gather his things for the day and send him out the door knowing there is a good chance i won't see him until nine or so. After he leaves i generally go back to sleep for another hour or two, then i wake back up go to the gym, pick up the house, hit the pool,and make food for dinner that is if i don't work. if i work i skip the pool part and sometimes the cleaning part depending on how excited i am for the day. Sally beauty sometimes sucks all the life out of me so everyday actions are a lot more difficult to do. But this is what i do.
- I just got put in the young women presidency as of sunday. i am nervous and getting excited for this calling.In utah i was a ward greeter, i was not needed, here there are so few of us that i am 'real'. i just went to my first mutual activity, it was weird to be back. we played get to know you games, there was a lot of giggling and chit chatting, was i like that?? probably.... hmmm sorry yw leaders.
- I have made it a goal to work on getting better at cooking. Dave gets to suffer through the not so good meals. He is so good to do it though, that or he is just to tired to realize that it's not so good. poor guy!

we are just about 3 weeks into our long trip through med school.
Dave is really like it. they have been studying OMM, the manipulations the the DO doctors learn, this is partly what makes them different from the MD doctors. Dave just took his first big test yesterday, Score still to come. But he feels like he did well. studying for this test meant that dave didn't get home until midnight. He has been working so hard. He is going to be a good doctor one day! TCOM seems to be a really good school. I am so proud of dave getting in. Dave has been able to find some really great guys to study with. One of them i went to high school with, it's a small world. Dave has also found a group of guys to play rugby with, which he really was happy about.

I have been making food for dave and his study buddies, I work about 20 to 25 hours a week as Sally Beauty, and my biggest chore is working on my tan at the pool, it's tough but some one has got to do it. Fort Worth has hit a new record since 1984 , we just hit 39 days in a row in the triple digits. it's been a little hot here. I am getting to know the area better. i am able to go to the grocery store, work and dave's school without having to use the gps. yes it's hot here but i did ask to be some where warm. guess i got what i asked for. haha. I am really starting to like it here.

house hunting

After our visit with Roger and Marilyn we went to Fort Worth to look for houses. We had origionally planned on buying a house to be able to qualify for instate Tuition! we spend 3 days looking at houses all over the area. Ridglea area Arlington, TCU area. All of these areas had 'nice' parts but many and all most all had not as nice parts. After looking at a house or an area we would find out that one of the houses near by or the specific house we looked at had just been broken into... this really worried me. We went out with a relator for 2 days she wasn't a lot of help other than she was really honest about the areas. We finally found a house we both loved and decided we wanted to put in an offer on it. so the after prayers we decided to go to look at the house one more time before putting in the offer. We pulled up and the neighbor was swearing like crazy and told us that his house had just gotten broken into and all the copper wiring was torn out of the walls and under the sinks, so we decided to check the house that we were hoping to get and sure enough it had also had the copper wiring stole, only out of the air conditioning unit but still. this was enough for me. i couldn't do it. I didn't feel safe. So after i freaked out a little and then a lot.... we decided to find a place to rent. by this time i was so tired of house hunting but we finally found a beautiful apartment where i felt very safe. the garage was gated and keyed. The apartment has a 24 hour fitness center and a pool! i loved it. yes we are paying more than hoped but.... it is nice and safe and i feel like i can try to make friends here! It is very close to Dave's school and that was something we really wanted! I think we are were where are supposed to be! it seems like it all worked out for the best.

After our Cruise we went to Texas to spend time with Roger and Marilyn then off to look for housing for the end of summer. Roger and Marilyn were so good to pick us up from the airport and make a fun few days for us. we went to a Phoenician market were they served some really good unique food and they have so many interesting foods there, a whole wall of different kinds of olive oil and olives. We went out to eat at sea food restaurants, i love seafood. We went to Galveston, went to a fun theater where they serve food as you watch the movie. we watched thor, and it was fun to eat dinner while watching! I have never been to a theater like this. Roger and Marilyn's New home is very beautiful in a nice area it was so fun to get to see where they live now. we went to their pool which is very close by. They let us borrow their bikes so we went on fun bike rides around there lakes. We watched movies together at night. I really like a lot of the same shows as Roger, CSI, NCIS, and Law and Order. Roger had to leave for Germany so we didn't get to spend as much time with him but it was good to spend time with him. We had a lot of fun with Marilyn, she made sure we had a great visit. We went to Sallys and got hair product so I could do Marilyn's hair. It was a great visit.

Cruises are my favorite!!! For Dave's graduation trip we decided to celebrate by going on one! We went out of long beach with carnival. We had so much fun!!!!!!!!!! our stops were Belize, Cozumel, Honduras and Grand Cayman. In Belize we went cave tubing!!! so beautiful and so fun! the water was "refreshing". In Cozumel we went road around the island on scooters! so fun! Of course Dave drove us!! It was so nice having Dave know Spanish, we were able to get good deals and found great stops a long the way! In Honduras we decided to go out on our own and snorkel, we took a ghetto taxi (the guy handed Dave the keys to his car while he went and got us food...) we found a secluded beach (almost too secluded, i was nervous) the snorkeling was fun and there were a few really pretty fish and sea shells. however out of the water was a different story. we decided to build a sandcastle... we kept getting bit over and over and over buy we couldn't really tell what. turns out they were tiny sand flies.... we have over a hundred bites all over our bodies!!!! not too cute and a little itchy....but it was still fun! In Grand Cayman we went to stingray city! It was so beautiful!!! we took a boat to stingray city, the boat was a bit open deck with a bathroom/changing room below. There were about 20 of us on the boat. The Captain was native to grand cayman he was very funny and was good at what he did. He jumped in the water and dove about 10 feet in and brought up star fish, very cool. He announced at the beginning of the trip out to the city that there was changing below so all that needed to get in their suits could. well a European man decided changing on deck was a better option. This man was at least 65 and was stripping down to nothing and bent over many many times to get his speedo on....yuck. Stingray City was unbelievable. I had no idea that it was just an open shallow area where these animals just hang around. it was so fun to be able to feed them, swim with them and kiss them. It was amazing!! one really liked Dave and would not let go of his back!! hahahaha. wow the cruise was fun!! we are pretty spoiled! Good food, great weather, fun entertainment and a lot of relaxing! Loved it!!!

DAVE'S
BYU GRADUATION

3 and a half years at BYU and he is done!! I am beyond proud of him!! He is so smart, he did so well!!! Dave graduated with his bachelor degree in Exercise Science Cum Laude. He loved BYU, he did research, he played Rugby, and he worked hard at the Hinkley Center with Public Affairs and Guest Relations. He had a great Boss, great instructors. Dave worked hard and all his hard work paid off. Roger and Marilyn Flew in from Texas, they put a lot of effort to be here for his big day! Thank you!! My parents and brothers were here to celebrate too!! They were also so excited to celebrate with us. Thank you to everyone who chipped in for the graduation present.
We got him a Desktop Computer. Dave really wanted one for med school. He also got an ipod nano to run with. Again I am so proud of Dave he is so smart! Congrats baby, YOU GRADUATED!! whoot whoot! And Thanks again Roger and Marilyn for flying in, thanks Mom and Dad for helping make Dave's big day great!!!

My Birthday --- I sure am spoiled!

Dave told me to pack my bags because he was planning a surprise birthday weekend for me. I was so excited. February 17 i worked from 730-230. while at work my co-workers gave me a sweet gift and Spencer came in to bring me a cute present from my family. I got off work and headed home. Dave was ready to go... we headed north. Dave booked us a hotel at Lava Hot Springs (I love LAVA). Lava was so fun and our hotel room was cute and very close to the pots! so fun! Dave got me awesome gifts. I got so spoiled! holy cow. Shirts, season of Everybody loves Raymond, ER, perfume and more!! after Lava we headed to my parents house. My mom had the house decorated so cute for my celebration. She also made one of my favorite meals. Salmon and asparagus and for desert her amazing chocolate melting cake... YUM YUM. My parents also spoiled me with amazingly sweet presents They got me a new broom (much needed since we broke our last one using it as a shovel to dig Dave's car out of the snow) a framed picture of one of my favorite wedding pictures and they had my favorite art project i had done framed, it turned out so beautifully. They are so good to me!!! Spencer got me some really good smelling lotion and Jacob got me a swifter wet jet ( i have always wanted my own after using one when i cleaned houses) Thanks boys! Then Dave got us tickets to see the Monster Jam in Salt lake City. I have always wanted to see monster trucks!! Before the Jam we had sushi at simply sushi......my all time favorite sushi place, so good!it was even better this time. The sushi chef tony loved picking on Dave and made us some special sushi for my birthday! after some great sushi we rocked it with the hicks at the jam!! loved it! YES i got very spoiled! i have an amazing Husband, i am so happy we found each other! My family is so wonderful! my mom and dad are so good to me! Thanks for one of the best Birthdays ever!! 24 is going to be a good year, i can tell!

Super Bowl Party

Dave really wanted to have a super bowl party. He wanted good food and a good game. He decided he wanted to make lisa's ribs. He was so excited. along with the ribs we had atrichoke dip, salsa, cheese dip, and treats. yum yum yum....but also a lot of food. we invited spencer my brother over to join us.
Dave cooked the ribs and they turned out so so good. he was so proud of them. (Thank you Lisa for the recipe and the help!!) I don't even like meat but they were so good! nicely done baby!! Dave is a really good cook! how lucky am i?
The party was fun we ate way too much but it was worth it. Next year in texas we are going to throw an even bigger party!! or at least that is the plan.

frustrating

So last week I was in Galveston for an Interview. The morning of the interview I was in a hurry to get ready and packed and left my ipod(that Em gave me for my Birthday) charging on the nightstand. It wasn't until I got to the airport that I realized I had left it. I called the hotel, but it turns out the housekeeping crew are the only ones who have access to the lost and found, not even the manager has access - sounded suspicious. They told me they'd call the next morning, they didn't, and when I called the housekeeping crew had already gone home - how convenient. So after 9 phone calls and 4 days of trying to get an answer from them they finally called to let me know that housekeeping didn't find anything in the room - sure they didn't. One of their kids is probably playing with it right now. I don't know which was more frustrating the fact that it took 4 days to get an answer or that I was an idiot and left it. Probably that I forgot it, but still.

Thank you to all who made our Christmas so so so great!! Thanks for all the sweet, amazing, thoughtful gifts, we got totally spoiled. HOLY COW! We were able to spend a lot of time with family. That's one of my favorite things about the holidays!! Love you all!! we were able to talk to spencer on his mission!! so fun!
---- Then he came home! whoot whoot! happy he was able to serve the people of Ecuador but i'm excited for him to be home. :)
---- school started again. Dave is in his last last semester at BYU!!! i can't even believe it!! He has done so so well!! he is so amazingly smart! i am beyond proud of him!! He has a full schedule, so he is very busy as usual but he is so good and still finds time for me!! how great is he!! i'm one lucky girl. I'm taking another class at UVU. i'm glad i am finishing getting my associate degree, almost there.
--- Dave the amazing guy he is got into all the schools he interviewed at. Arizona, Vegas, Iowa, Texas (Fort worth) and still waiting to hear back from Galveston!! So the plan is us moving to Texas Fort worth unless he gets into Galveston. warmer weather he we come. I am very excited, nervous, and very very proud of Dave. So when we move there everyone has to promise to come visit me!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!
--- I'm still working at Sally Beauty.... i'm very glad that i have a job!! Dave is still working at BYU he was able to help out with the transport and all with Ms, Rice when she came to talk at BYU, very cool. He loves his job they are really good to hm too!!

I've been terrible with updating the blog lately. LIFE IS GOOD. we are still so in love and very very busy. Lately....

Dave has gotten some interviews for med school!! YAAAAY!! his first was in Arizona, second in Texas, third in Vegas and one in Ohio and Missouri. So exciting. We are so happy about this!! The first interview in Arizona was very nerve racking, but still he did very well. He and his friend from work Orrin went down together. which makes it a little easier. He got one of the hard interviewers. but he still did well. I'm so proud of him! the second interview in Texas went even better! The interview was more of a conversation which he felt was easier to be calm and really get across who he really is. Texas is definitely his first choice. so that is so good. He loved the school and the area. another bonus of this school is they have a program/group for the significant others of those attending so i'll have something to do and be a part of when i first get down there.. which would make moving so far away easier for me. for both of these schools they said it would be about 2 to 6 weeks to hear back..... so now we wait. This weekend we are heading down to Vegas for the 3rd interview and our 2 year anniversary celebration. it'll be so fun and exciting.

Halloween was good, for work i dressed up as the dead Doctor. i love doing make up for things like that... if i could make any money doing it i would, for now though thank goodness for Halloween. haha. then me and dave decieded to dress up as 60/70's people. We got Dave the Afro wig and sweet aviator glasses. he looked awesome! we didn't really do anything amazing but it was fun to dress up. I love scary movies so we took advantage of the holiday! :)

life... i'm still at sally's, also finishing school. Dave has one more semester after this one... i can't even believe it. so exciting. i'm so proud of him.

We got to go up to my parent's house for Jacob's 14th birthday. he is growing up fast, getting so tall. I love going home... it's always so fun.
Spencer comes home on January 3! holy cow!! i'm so exicted....

so that's life in a quick update.

i got a new computer and can't figure out how to get the pictures off of my memory card onto the computer... so i'll update pictures if i can figure it out..... wish me luck... or give me advice on how to..... :)

26 years...

My Dad has worked for thiokol/ATK for the last 26 years. he gradutated from College and soon after started his first day at was then called Thiokol. Now called ATK 26 years and 18 layoffs later my Dad was layed off. just like that. after his best year at ATK with so many new prodjects and greats tests it was a huge let down. He is stressed and worried about what the future holds. we are praying for the best for him. He is job searching hoping not to have to commute to california every week so hopefully but we'll see what happens. love you dad!! We are so greatful for what a hard worker he is. thanks for all you do!

Dave Just turned 24!! holy cow... Dave got to choose what we did for his birthday so he decieded we'd hike then go to my parents house and spend the entire day saturday watching football. to him this was a dream come true. so we were planning on hiking timp agian but voted agianst it since we were both sick and it was such a long hike, so rather than doing that we decided to hike the Y and then up over to the back side of the Y. a long hike but not as bad as timp so we hiked to the Y and almost made it to the canyon when across the path slithered a big ol' rattle snake (i've never seen one in real life). we really wanted to keep going so we thought we'd throw rocks at the snake and it's go away. well after a few rocks it hadn't moved too far off the trial so dave tossed a big rock which knocked him rolling down the hill... once it gained it's barings it was mad and took off afer us causing us to run down the hill... so that was the end of the hike because first off we had on shorts and secondly i couldn't carry dave down the hill if there were any others. After the uneventful hike we headed for a pre-birhtday dinner at Goodwood. after the yummy dinner we headed to Mantua. Saturday the football started bright and early 7:00 a.m. Jacob had football in Logan then weent home and football the rest of the day with all dave's requested foods, cinnamon rolls, nachos, cookies, cheese meat stick and crackers, dr peper (which my mom allowed, cuz she loves dave, no one else ever was allowed to drink caffiene at home) then hot tub and more football. Sunday was church and presents. Dave got spoiled. New IPOD touch, BYU blanket, BYU Rugby team photo framed to hang in his future office, BYU window tile, church shirt, tie, lots and lots of socks, and his new favorite dinner, kabobs and shrimp. Hopefully it was a good 24th birthday. He claims his life is 1/3 over so.... better make the best of it. hahhah

Dave is one ambitious guy. this summer he decided that he was going to run the park city marathon. so after many weeks of training he was ready. August 20 after i got off work we went up to park city so that early Saturday the 21 Dave could get up and run. This is his first time running 26.2 miles. last year he ran the park city half marathon and loved it and that's what pushed him to do the full. the race started at 6:30 a.m and he was off. I watched him and about 100 others run off down the road. I went back to the hotel room to wait. ( there is no way i was about to run that.....) With his training he planned on it taking about 4 1/2 hours. so at about 4 hours i got anxious and went to the finish line to watch for my stud. It took him about 5 hours, so a little longer than he expected but i was so excited to see him come around the final turn!!! Dave told me it was much harder than he had expected, it was basically all up hill and part was just on dirt, many of the people he talked to along the way said that this was one of the hardest marathons they had ever ran and most of them had run about 20. So, Dave picked a hard one to start out on but he did great!!! I am so proud of him.

hi-ho-hi-ho it's back to school we go

well summer is clearly over. We are back in school. Dave is taking a full course again this semester at BYU. He is taking kiniesology and bio-mechanics, cell biology, functional anatomy, organic chem lab, physics lab, research, volunteering at the Springville physical therapy as well as volunteering at the hospice care center and working at P.A.G.R again.
I am starting school again at UVU I'm just taking Biology and will be starting an online math course soon. I am trying to at least finish getting my associate degree but hopefully i can just go ahead and finish my bachelors degree, I'm about 4 semesters away from finish so we'll see. I am still at Sally's working 40 hours a week, so our busy life just keeps going.

MCAT

my brilliant husband took the MCAT after many hours of studying. he did really well. I am so proud of him. He is now applying for DO schools, he has received 7 secondary applications he is working on sending them in and then we hope to hear back to get interviews. this is such an exciting/stressful time. Dave as of right now is planning on taking a MCAT class next semester to try and get a better score when he takes the test again. Unless he get's into an ideal DO school. so our fingers are crossed.

WALLET RETURNED

So I lost my wallet at the beginning of the summer. I had everything in there so of course I canceled all my credit cards, ordered new ones and got a new drivers license. I got a call from my volunteer coordinator a few weeks ago and she told me she got a call from the Orem police saying they found my wallet. Weird they called her, but I guess I had her number in my wallet. So almost three months after losing the wallet I got it back, everything still in it. I wonder where it was?

Sea World x 2 Disney land X 3.5 and Beach

My Parents took us to California this last week on a family vacation. we are so spoiled!! we went to Sea world for 2 days, I love Sea world. I'd work there if i could! the sea lions, the sting rays, the dolphins!! i loved it!!! so much fun!! Dave missed sea world he had school, sorry dave! Then Disney Land am i too old to love it there???? cuz i do!! we went all day Wednesday, all day Thursday all day Friday and evening Saturday! we rode every single ride at least once, and others up to 5 times. we went crazy! it was exhausting for day i think but we loved it! my Favorite rides are Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tower of Terror, and Space Mountain. Dave's are Indian Jones, splash Mountain, spacer Mountain, and Toy Story! so much fun! we watched fireworks Wednesday evening and Friday evening, they have some sweet fireworks there! My Parents and Jacob are just as crazy about Disney Land as me so that is good. in fact there was one evening where dave and jacob went back to the hotel to nap while me and my parents stayed and played. it was so much fun! I think my mom was the most excited one there actually, then me, then my dad, then dave and jacob! Dave was a good sport he put up with us running to rides staying there for 16 hours each day, i think he had fun too....Dave loved the beach on Satruday, we built a sand castle and he body surfed for hours, it was overcast which made it a little too cold for me to get in the water but dave loved it, he, jacob and my cousins we met up with down there were in the water the entire time, freezing i'm sure. but it was fun and we both managed to get some nice sunburns!
It was such a fun week it's hard to be back to real life...but what can you do.!

My sweet, amazing Grandpa died Sunday morning. He was always such a great example in everything he did, church, work, family. He lived 2 years with out my Grandma and he missed her so much, He went quickly so this was more of a blessing for him then anything. Grandpa Maughan was such a great grandpa he was so fun, happy, hard working and sweet. I feel I was so lucky to have gotten so much time with him! He will be missed and thought of often!

We got a new car!!! whoot whoot!!
we had been searching for a small SUV for me since the trooper broke... we test drove explorers, xterras, and liberty's but the one we liked the most was the liberty it was small enough that it didn't get terrible gas millage and it's safe and cute--- so we had my dad looking at the auction and we had ben looking at millennium and we were all searching on ksl. Ben got one in and it was in pretty good condition but the cd player was broken it had a rip in the seat and some dings on the outside. but we liked it and almost bought it, the day before we signed the papers my dad found an amazing deal on KSL, a 2005 jeep liberty with only 74000 miles at Barber Brothers in Spanish Fork. i went over as soon as he told me, it had been miss priced on KSL it was listed on the lot as 10, 000, but they gave it to us as the KSL listing, was a steal! it is Pewter, and in perfect condition!! --- Thank you DAD!!! we are happy with our new car!

Riverwoods 10 mile!

This past Saturday Em and I ran the Riverwoods 10 miler down Provo Canyon. I'll be the first to admit that we didn't really train for it like we should have. Two weeks before the race we started running 2 miles a day three times a week. I was surprised that I could convince Em to run with me, she's a swimmer not a runner. She said she would agree to run one race with me this summer and I thought I might as well make it a good one. She did awesome! She ran the first 4 miles without even stopping once. It was a lot of fun! 4 days after we're finally getting over the soreness. This was kind of a wake up call for me since I'm planning to run a marathon at the end of August. Thanks Em for running with me! You're awesome!

LAKE POWELL(for a day)

Last week Emily and I went down to Lake Powell. It was only for a day, but it was worth the drive. We got down there around midnight on Thursday and met Scott and Codi at the State Park Beach. We spent all day Friday wakeboarding, tubing, and playing in the water. We got dominated in rumbi by Codi's sister and her husband. Got burnt. We headed back Friday night around midnight and got home about 5 am. We had to drink about 4 rockstars each to make it through the trip, but it was a lot of fun! We forgot our camera so this will have to due.

well it's a sad day... my car of 7 years just died on me. the trooper was the car my parents got me when I turned 16. I didn't realize how attached i had gotten over the years. my first car. the car i drove to USU, then down to Provo, the car me and Dave took on all our adventures... Me and Dave put a lot of miles on the trooper just in the last 18 months we drove over 30 thousand miles, so i expected there to be a few issues but i didn't think we were to the end yet... i was wrong. after many hours at Johnson tire the conclusion was that the internal crank in the engine was broken and it would cost more than it is worth to fix it. sad sad day. we are hoping to sell the trooper though for a few hundred dollars to put down on our next car... which we hope is a jeep liberty! i am in love with it... so we'll see

One of my mom's really good friend was giving away some of their stuff from one of their homes and so my parents went to check out what she had to give away. --- we hit the jack pot. My parents picked out some awesome stuff for us and then drove all the way here, helped us move it in and assemble it all then had to drive all the way back home. Me and Dave are so spoiled. We got a full universal gym, we also got a big, nice armoir and a funky new lamp and some fun decorations for the house.
like I said we are so spoiled, Thank you Carol, Thank you so so so so much Mom, Dad, Jacob!!

We Have started an intense work out called Insanity by Shaun T. this workout is similar to p90X minus all the expensive work out equipement. We ran out of money for gym memberships and this is our cheap way to get in shape for the summer. We are serious about getting hot bodies. We have taken before pictures and plan to take pictures after. This week is our half way mark, it's been a lot harder than i expected. The work-outs so far have been about 40-45 minutes ranging from pure cardio to cardio circuits to cardio abs. we usually do our workouts first thing in the morning around 6 or 7, it's a really good way to start out the day... however i sometimes need a nap. these work outs have been so exhausting, but they are seeming to work. We haven't weighed ourselves but we feel good. we have one more month of this so we are hoping to reach our goals. wish us luck!!

My trip to Indiana. -Dave

Indiana---
It was fun to go out to Indiana to see Scott, Codi, Iris, Willa and Olive for Scott's graduation. It was also fun to see Mike, Rob and Logan, and my parents. We were just short a few siblings and spouses to call it a family reunion. The weekend included a barbecue, Robin Hood (which i thought was good no matter what Scott says), lots of ipod touch playing, a short adventure to white caste with Mike and Rob (which was not worth the hour long search, we ordered 10 hamburgers, each ate three, and threw the tenth away because we were all sick of them. I think the only thing good there was the coke), and of course Scott's graduation. It was a fun weekend and I wish I could have stayed a little longer to go to the time trials of the Indy 500.

Our apartment was sold, we were told we could stay or move.... we chose to move and after some drama with the new landlords of our old apartment we got out of our lease and now we are in a bigger better place. We now live in Orem just off state street. We are loving it, it's a two bedroom (not an announcement) apartment, it is a lot bigger and it has a, washer and dryer, and a disposal in the kitchen sink. Yes we have moved up in the world!! No more creepy laundry mats for hours and hours. this is the laundry mat we spent most of our time at.....Even though we live in Orem we are still so close to BYU and work so we are very very excited.

Also really good news I finally got a job!! it took four months of searching but mission accomplished! it is such a relieve. I did not like being lazy one bit--- ok I did a little at first but it got old fast. So now i'm working at Sally Beauty Supply in Provo. I wanted to do hair but that wasn't going to pay the bills, so the next best thing was a beauty supply store. I've been working there since April 19th. I've been workin about 40 hours a week. It's a good job not nearly as stressful as the bank which is nice for a change. I get a pretty big discount there so if you girls need anything let me know!

Also thank you Nate for helping us move in our washer and dryer!! Thank you thank you!

Dave Finished yet another semester at BYU he is still a great student he finished taking physics, organic chemistry, anatomy, new testament, and Spanish. wooohooo!! it was a tough semester for him but he did so good. He is one smart man.
Also Rugby is over, it was a long season but he loved it. they took second place in the nation. Still so good. He got to play a lot and was only injured slightly. we survived!!!

Dave did finish another semester but then quickly started one of his last ones... he is taking classes during the spring term. He is one dedicated student, he is like the energizer bunny, he doesn't need a break. He is amazing. This semester he is taking physiology, persuasive writing, and he is also doing a shadowing internship as well as studying for the MCAT.
He is shadowing a General Practitioner Dr. Robinson. Dave is totally loving it. He gets to go in twice a week. He has seen everything from a prostate exam to a sinus check. I think this is such a good experience for him. Dave is getting to see what he does like and what he doesn't like so he can start deciding what type of doctor he wants to be. The hours of the General Practitioner are amazing, it's a great job that provides enough time for family, on the down side though Dave feels like he wants something a little more rewarding in that he wants to fix people rather than write them a prescription or send them to another doctor and hear how it all turned out...so we'll see what he decides.

Dave is planning to take the MCAT on August 5!! so he is studying and taking practice tests to prepare! if he does well, which i bet he will, we will be applying for med schools soon!

This is all very exciting!!

Dave is playing his second year of BYU rugby and loving it! He is getting to play a lot more this year which is awesome! He has played 1 home games and 7 away games. They are 8-1 as of their last game. At the last away game against the Men's team in Colorado Dave got to play on the A team, so exciting! He did end up getting slammed in the head by one of the players, which led to a black eye and 7 stitches. He is hard core!

He wasn't able to get stitches there because the bus was leaving so when i picked him up he had a head wrap and blood everywhere. but 7 stitches later he is looking good. I did however make him get a scrum cap so that maybe this won't happen again!!

The team has also learned the Haka their Haka comes from Alma 53; 20-21, so it is special just for them and the team. They were able to perform the Haka at the last game against U of U. They beat the U 15 to 10. It was a really close game. By winning this game they get to now go to the round of 16 to play for the national Championship again this year!! if they had lost they would have had to play in the round of 64, this game was a big deal! They also won the Wasatch Cup by beating the Utes! whoot whoot Go BYU RUGBY players!!

So it's been awhile, don't worry we are still living. Life has been a little chaotic lately but we are survivin'.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were great! we got very spoiled. I just love spending time with family! we are so lucky we can do that.

Dave is still going to BYU he has some tough classes this semester but he is so smart and so dedicated he'll do great. i have been studying the bone structure with him. our body only has 206 bones i thought for sure it had more than that. hmmmm. Dave has also applied for a few research positions for this summer, one with the U and another with a professor on campus, either one would be great! so we are waiting to hear on those. He needs to do some research before he applies for med schools, most require some type of research. He is very excited about that.

We just got 2 baby turtles! they are so so so so small and so cute! their names are Lenard and Rocky. Lenard likes to bury himself under the plants and rocks he is a little antisocial. They are so fun, since i can't have my puppy at the apartment they will have to do.

My big news well I have 41.82 hours left of school as of Friday, which means i will be done with school the first of next week!! whoooot whooot! My family made me a paper chain of my hours since my test so about 300 or so it was really really long and now it's not tooooo bad! it was fun to see the chain get smaller, it was very very very long though at first. So, I'll do my last client at school ( my mom) Tuesday then I'll take my written test Wednesday, and I'll have my license. I have applied to work for Stuart Fraser, still waiting to hear back, cross your fingers.

We are also watching the 5th season of LOST, love it!! We love watching series of shows on DVD it's kind of our thing, a nice way to relax after a stress filled day! we have also started watching modern family, it's pretty funny.

We are still so in love! we have been married over a year! wow! i can't even believe it!!

Turns out the circus isn't for little kids... I had been trying to find something fun to do for Dave's Birthday... i just couldn't figure anything out.... nothing was really going on --Except the BYU game... so i was at the gym and saw a commercial for the Ringling Bros... yeah!! so that's what we did Friday night for Dave's Party. At first i was a little nervous because the place was full of little kids and the opening act was the clowns playing musical chairs... lame!! then the actual show started! we totally loved it more than the little kids i think! i loved the elephants!! so cute!! they held each others tail and balanced and danced. Other cool things at the circus, a little dog show! so fun! horse routine, 11 tigers! dang!! they were cool they hopped like bunnies, rolled over, jumped, the trainer was in the cage with them. crazy! k honestly it was actually pretty good! NOT JUST FOR LITTLE KIDS!!! :)

The actual day of Dave's birthday we got up early Dave had rugby that morning. which he is still loving!! can't wait for the games!! he got back and showered off all the mud. we ate lunch. i made hamburgers with grilled pineapple and homemade french fries. it was pretty yummy. Dave opened his presents. I gave him 'Tim' the anatomical skeleton to study the bones of the body. it's about a foot tall and is actually a really good replica, also he wanted Common sense by glen beck, and i got him a believe it or not Er stories, and ER season 3! whoot whoot.

We then went to the BYU game vs. Colorado. we won however it was a pretty close game. Dave get's amazing seats with his job. we were in section A row 4. not bad---GREAT!!! plus we get free food, we had pulled pork sandwiches and popcorn and drinks. don 't worry it was a few hours after we had eaten lunch...ok we are pigs.

After the game we went up the canyon!! Dave loves Long boarding, i got him a board last year for his b-day. i can't long board so.... i roller blade hahaha. it's still cool! We parked a car at the top and at the bottom of Provo canyon and long boarded, and bladed down in the dark. k actually it was pretty scary for me because dave liked to go faster then me and left me in the dark by myself... but we made it down and yes it was fun!! Dave is so patient!! (p.s. we rented the roller blades from BYU.... i need to get my own!! where can i get roller blades that aren't too expensive??)

Once we made it down the canyon we went home packed our stuff drank RockStars and headed up to Mantua for another birthday celebration with my fam. my mom made homemade donuts for breakfast then after church we had steak, shrimp and potatoes and a nice big salad. then presents. He got a shirt, socks, 4th season of HOUSE, and The BYU vault (a BYU book with the history of BYU football).
I think all 'n all it was a good birthday! Love you Dave so happy you were born!! can't wait to celebrate every year! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Dallas Trip!

A lot of people thought we were crazy to make the 40 hour car ride to watch BYU take on the Sooners in the Dallas Cowboys new stadium, but it was definitely worth it! Early Friday morning me and two friends, Mike and Bridger, all jumped in the car and headed for Dallas. We stopped in Albuquerque ten hours later to pick up Rob and sleep a little before we spent another ten hours in the car to Dallas. Lisa was way too nice to us and made us a bunch of food. Thanks Lisa! We stayed up way too late playing the wii. Saturday we woke up at three and headed down to Dallas.

The stadium was awesome! The big screen was probably the best part. Its the worlds largest HD screen and supposedly cost more than their old stadium. There really wasn't a bad seat in the place, especially because of the huge screen which i found myself watching more than the actual game - it was hard to take your eyes off it. The game itself was awesome and i couldn't believe that we won! It would have been a long ride back if we hadn't.

We got back to Rob's around 7 am on Sunday. We slept a few hours and then headed back to Utah. On the way home Bridger just had to see the four corners so we took the hour detour to find it. When we finally found it we were a little disappointed, but at least i can now check that off my list. We got home around 1 am on Monday. So all in all it was a pretty great trip!

Two hours and Eight minutes!!! He did so good!! So, Dave ran the Park City half Marathon. I was so impressed all his running everyday paid off! i was worried how it was going to go but he did great!! We got up to Park City friday night Dave got us a great hotel room, they messed up and only had us scheduled for one night so they had to upgraded us.... bummmer... haha it was a sweet room. It was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen and a jacuzzi tub in the living room! i loved it! we watched friends while soaking.. not bad. The marathon started the next day at 6:45 a.m. early but the temperature wasn't too bad. we got there he warmed up put on his number 1031 and he was off. 2 hours later here he came around the corner! he did it! I was very impressed! i couldn't have done that. i was supprised he wasn't as worn out as i had expected, however we did go back to our room and take a good long nap!! Dave is amazing he did so good!!
Later that day dave took me to the alpine slides, i'll admit it was very nervous! but i had so much fun!! i'm glad he talked me into it. i totally want to go agian. Then we met up with Julie, Nate and the boys for Dinner! They were up there for Nate's bike race. We ate at a cute little place with a waterbottle sculpture. trey had fun pouring pepper in my hand and blowing it off and Smith was crazy but so cute.
Sunday dave got us tickets the showcase of homes! i love looking at houses and this time we get to go inside! I loved it!! there were some amazing homes! a little outragerous but amazing! i loved it. we did that for 7 hours by the end we were pretty worn out. But loved it!

It was a great weekend! i had so much fun! Dave did so good!!

Bear Lake

We went to bear lake! it's not lake Powell but still pretty fun! Bear lake is one of the vacations my family always goes on each year. My mom's friends (the Pickles) and their families all get a big camp site. it's always fun! it's a great little group of people. So the morning started our warm and nice and as the day went on it got more and more windy. so much that the buoy floated in and the waves were so big it was like being at the ocean. the waves were going up over the front of our boat which then caused the boat to fill up with water so in a hurried frenzy we all went out with buckets scooping out the water. we kept it from sinking....it was a close call. since the water was so rough me and Dave decided to make a sand castle! it rocked! one of our best if i do say so myself! i LOVE building sandcastles! Dave is pretty creative! My borhter Jacob and his friend helped us, they were our water boys

ROAD TRIP

Utah-California-Oregon-Washington-Idaho-Utah

.... we decided to go on a road trip.
1st we drove to San Fransisco to get there we took the long boring trip through Reno...we stayed in the most ghetto, nasty motel because we got there around 2 in the morning... it was a little sketchy, however we did make it through the night and we didn't get a disease... we made it to San Fransisco where we stayed with Sam and Allison Nelson in Vacaville they took us to the beach, it was cold but fun then on July 4th we went to China town and Pier 39. We loved China town, it was so interesting and fun! we checked out all the shops, a few salons for my school, we ate noodles and pot stickers and walked around for a good part of the day. Then at the pier we watched a magic show, saw seals, checked out all the places there and ate some yummy hot dogs right before watching the fire works. (it was chilly) Good day!!
then we headed up the coast on the 101 up to Oregon. One of the most beautiful drives i have ever been on. the ocean on one side and huge red woods on the other! so so so cool! We drove for a few hours got out explored drove more checked out a little shops or creepy abandoned home in the middle of nowhere. We also got to do something i never thought i would get to do. We drove through a tree! we had to tuck in the mirrors but we made it. so fun. the Trees were so BIG oh my! we found trees that we could climb inside (which we did) we could have spent hours even days there just in the trees! we found Big FOOT, Paul Bunion and his Ox and some dinosaurs. What an adventure. We finally made it up the coast to Mike and Kat's. They were so nice and let us stay with them. They have a cute place. Mike had to work so Kat took us around and showed around Portland to all the cool places, she took us to Hawthorne street where all the artsy shops and thrift store were. we spent a lot of the day there. then that night We went with Mike and Kat to the Old Elementary school that had been turned into a hotel/ movie theater/pool hall/restraunt. a very cool place. We went and saw a movie there, the cool thing about the theater is that it was the old gym of the elementary school and instead of the usual seats there were just a bunch of couches. so cool and so much more comfortable and it was like $3.00 not bad and so unique. then the next day we went to a farmers market which had some really good fruit and veggies we ate a pickle there that was amazing.... yeah i called a pickle amazing...cuz it was. We enjoyed the new experience of the Farmers market. Then we headed back to mike and Kats to play Catan! it was a blast!! then we took off that night around 11:00 to head to Lava Hot springs for my family reunion, we drove all night... no seriously all night. we got there around 10 in the morning. just in time to take a quick nap and do the family thing. we went rafting down the river. my dad tried to make me and dave a raft so we wouldn't have to rent one.... didn't really work- we rented one- we spent the whole day in the river and that night me and dave went to the hot springs- it felt so nice!! i love that place. then the next day we went to the big pool with cool slides we were there all day and then that night went back to the springs. it was fun. I love Maughan Family reunions. we then headed home to recover and pack to move to our new place...

The Road trip rocked, we had so much fun! we are lucky that we get to do things like that.

Summer so far...

so far this summer we have been busy havin' a lot of fun! Dave planned a fun date for us. he rented me roller blades and he got his long board and we went down Provo canyon then at the bottom Dave made us dinner yummy salmon and asparagus. so fun!! then we went to the outdoor seira theater in Orem. He is great!

Last week we went to the Beautiful Lake Powell! We left on Tuesday after Dave got off work, which got us to lake powell around 7! and the fun began! we boated every day Dave showed off his wake boarding skills for us! he really is good!! it was so much fun. we slept out on the beach while my family stayed in the motor home. We caught a lizard which bit dave and then wanted to attacked my mom... SO FUNNY!! it swam after her in the water.. then it got too tired and gave up. hahaha should have been there. we hiked up to an arch and my mom thought we'd take another route down to the water... this was a disaster, we got the the edge of the sand which led to a swampy few feet then we had to tread water... I was horrified, i hate swampy water, dave was holding his shoes and his shirt and trying to tread water, while we waited for my dad to come and get us in the boat...hmmm not the best idea. but a good story, yeah? we toured the dam! it was sweet. did you know that it leaks hundreds of gallons of water through the sandy walls each day?? it's true.
we also went the indian ward on sunday, so so cool. the bishop seemed like an amazing man!! very intune!! he spoke both english and natvie american. loved it.
sadly though we were only at lake powell tuesday til sunday... we drove home, went to work monday, tuesday and wednesday and now we are off on our road trip.
we are leaving tonight (thursday) and driving as far as we can. our stops along the way are san fransisco to see Sam and Alison, Oregon to see Mike and Kat, and Idaho for my family reunion. we will be back next saturday! should be fun! definetly a lot of driving! WISH US LUCK!!

and that is our summer so far!!!

Our First Camping trip in Moab.....then a quick change of plans...

Memorial Day weekend....We decided to go on our first camping trip. Moab seemed like the spot, it would be perfect, we could hike, it would be warm, and we could catch lizards. We were set, we had everything we thought we would need and so much more. we got there set up our tent hung out a bit and the rain began, it cleared up during the day Saturday, we were able to do our hikes, we went to Delicate Arch, and sand hill arch and a few others. it wasn't hot but that is nice when you are hiking! then as we were heading back to our tent the rain started, it came down hard all night long, i love the rain but this was crazy, our tent didn't hold up well, it leaked in all the corners and were the zippers were, we used a towel to soak up the water but that only lasted so long, then as the sleeping bags were beginning to get wet we decided that first thing in the morning we were heading to St George. So we did.

After a 5 hour drive we were in the Warm 90 degree weather! Much better!! We went to the4 MINI lake powell there, the lake called Sand Hollow, so nice. It got me so excited for Lake powell. we made sand castles, swam, got some sun, and played on the rocks... we were unsucessful with the lizard catching however... still so fun!
Dave introduced me to IN-N-OUT, i loved it! Yum!! we went there twice before heading home. The weekend was pretty great!!

Recently.... well nothing is new with us, I'm still working at Zions Bank out in Saratoga Springs, I'm cutting hair, i only have about 750 hours left in hair school!! so exciting actually!! I can't wait to be done!! I am really enjoying it! Dave is still working at BYU as their best tour guide EVER! He has also started selling food storage for Daily Bread. It really is a good deal and I hope that one day we can get it. He is also looking into volunteering at the hospital! that is our everyday life... work, school, work school.... We have still had time to have fun though!! Dave planned a great quick trip to Vegas for us last friday, we left at 2 in the afternoon and got there around 7 He got us tickets to see Ray Ramono's stand up comedy act (I LOVE EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND). It was so funny! I loved it!! i had to work at 8:45 the next morning so Dave drove us all the way back that night and let me sleep. He is great!! We also just hiked the Y for the first time! It was really fun! not too long!! The view was amazing!! The hike was pretty! we sat in the middle of the Y and chatted and ate gardettos (YUM YUM). This weekend we are headed on our first camping trip together. We are heading to MOAB!! P.S. i beat Dave in bowling the other night just like our first date --- he came back and killed me in the second game!! he really is better than me i just get lucky like 123 to 97 --- luck!! then i taught Dave how to play Skip-BO. i love this game i played it all the time growing up!! I beat Dave a few times in a row...He wasn't very happy... we are having a re-match tonight!! i'll keep you posted!! =)

RuGbY!!

Dave got to travel with the BYU rugby team to Atlanta On April 17 and 18, they won!! By winning they got to play in the championships in California. Dave Flew to California to play, the team first went against San Diego state and WON!! the score was 31-13!! This meant they got to play Cal Berkeley to be national Champions for the first time EVER!!!! They won 25-22!! It was a really close game!! Winning was a HUGE deal and Dave got to be a part of it!! He even received a metal!! I'm so proud of my handsome Rugby player!! (he is the best looking one there if i say so myself!) It has been so much fun learning the game of rugby and watching Dave, he really is so good!! I really like Rugby i didn't know if i would but.... I DO!

We are going GREEN...

Today is St Patrick's Day!!! Dave and I decided to make a green dinner. Finding things to turn green was a little harder than i thought!! but we figured something out, I'm not as good as Marilyn however. Dave told me how amazing she was at making St Patrick's day fun with all the green food! (that's where i got the idea.)
We decided to make pasta ( I couldn't find green pasta) with Alfredo sauce that we put food coloring in, with a salad... i need to work on my creativity, i have a long time to practice though.

we are never bored....

Dave and The BYU Rugby team, they played UVU in these pictures. He started on the A team he played amazingly for about 20 minutes then he played almost the entire B team game!! they killed the UVU team and Dave was so good!! i was pretty nervous when he was getting his head thrown against the ground but he did awesome he scored a Try!! He rocked it!! i was very very impressed! My parents and my grandpa came to see him! they loved it. My Grandpa thought it was great. He said he wrestled, played football and he faught in the war but there is no way that he would ever play rugby!! you gotta be tough, it's a real man's sport! My Grandpa loves Dave!!

Then the black eye, that pretty little paint job was when he went to Grand Junction Colorado this weekend. I didn't get to go so he came home looking Blue, black, green, purple and yellow.... hmmmmm Rugby.... as long as that's as bad as it gets i guess i'll be fine.... It's a good one, when he first got home he actually had 2 black eyes the other just wasn't as bad, He was telling people at church that i gave it to him. I hope they know he is joking, we are still pretty new to the ward....

Valentines Day and Birthday

Dave was so nervous.... this was his first valentines day with a Valentine and my birthday--BIG WEEKEND!! ... =) ohhhh
All the stress was for nothing, he planned the best valentines day ever!!
We woke up around 9:30 we made crapes (thanks to Rob and Lisa's wedding gift to us) yummmmm!! we then made shirts, we went to Gen X, the gangtsa store, we got red shirts (because red= valentines day) then we had them put some of our sayings on them, they turned out awesome!! then we went to the movies and saw Taken, so good if you like a good action/intense movie. then we went walked around the river bottoms, we spent a good hour looking at a ripley's believe it or not... i believe, then we had dinner reservations at Taconos. I had never been there, new experience, i loved the pineapple and Dave loved the meat!! YUM!
Then my b-day, we first went to my parents on sunday and monday morning, my mom made Curry i love that stuff, then monday dave hurried us back to Provo (i didn't know why we were in such a hurry, i didn't think we had any real plans) he surprised me with my very first real professional massage, wow i loved it!! it was so so so so nice (she did leave me in the room however with out telling me that we were done... so i just sat there and sat there for a good 15 minutes... then i kinda got frustrated so i got dressed, i went out of the room and she was like "oh i thought you had fallen asleep"--- she didn't tell me we were done, she said that she was going to grab something....hmmmmm) still though i really enjoyed the massage!! After the massage Dave brought me back to our cute little home and on our coffee table there were 3 large gift bags... full of the best birthday presents ever! He is so sweet and so good at picking things out for me. He is now my personal shopper. I'm pretty lucky! I changed into one of my cute new outfits that Dave bought me and we went out to Sushi...Thanks to the BARNES family i am addicted, i admit it, i am addicted, i think i could eat it every night!! oh my!! so so so good!
Dave did an amazing on my big weekend. i felt a little bad. just a little, it was a big weekend for him, a lot of preasure. He did so good though!! i got lucky, i got the best husband ever!!
